Theme of SZIDF 2020: SURVIVAL BY DESIGN: From Darwinism To…
This is an era of disruptive changes. From drastic and dismantling impact of trade war on global value chain, to interruption and suspension of social and economic orders caused by COVID-19, from natural disasters resulting from global warming coupled with consumers’ awakening awareness of sustainable consumption, to threat by evolving infotech to employment and humanity.
Individuals, enterprises and society faces one question more often than ever: “how to survive the future?” How can designers, an indispensable element of the whole value chain, respond to the challenges? Nurtured by the massive manufacturing base in Pearl River Delta and Greater Bay Area, as well as the most exciting advancement in infotech and biotech in Shenzhen, how industries here should not only respond but also get ready for the future? Facing unprecedented survival challenges, can the Design Industry shift from Darwinism’s responsive, adaptive mindset to become a force for change?
