This notice describes how Creative Industries Styria processes your personal data and how it acts as the sole controller of the processing. In order to facilitate your orientation, essential parts of this communication are structured according to the circle of those affected.

 

1. Business purpose

Creative Industries Styria, hereinafter CIS, sees itself as a bridge-builder and networking entity between the creative industries and the traditional economy, aiming at improving and expanding the efficiency and market performance for both sides. CIS has excellent knowledge of the Styrian creative industries and provides the best contacts regarding the traditional economy and can therefore identify and define the need for creative services and the local and regional availability of those.

2. Whose data do we process and for what purpose?

Without the transfer of personal data, the fulfillment of the corporate purpose is not possible. CIS processes data from the following groups:

 

2.1. Website Users

If you visit one of the websites operated by us (currently: www.cis.at, www.graz-cityofdesign.at, www.designcities.net, www.designforum.at, www.erlebniswelt-wirtschaft.at, www.designmonat.at, www.austriadesign.net), we will process some of your personal data in connection with this visit.

2.1.1. Which data is processed?

In the course of your visit to these websites, we will automatically collect the following personal information about you:

  • the website (URL) you visited before accessing this website

2.1.2. For what purpose is the data processed?

We process your data for the following purposes:

  • to make this website available to you and to further improve and develop this website;

  • to detect, prevent and investigate attacks on our website

We process your personal data based on our major, legitimate interest, which is to make our site user-friendly and protect our site from attacks.

2.1.5. Storage time

In general, we will always save your data for a period of 14 months. There will be only longer storage if it is necessary to investigate any reported attacks on our website and, in addition, until the expiration of any applicable limitation period, statutory retention period or any litigation in which the data is required as an evidence.

2.1.6. Google Analytics and Cookies

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are stored on your computer and allow an analysis of the use of the website by you. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA, where it is also stored. As part of CIS events, we do process some personal data of visitors.

2.2.1. Which data is processed?

  • company data (company name, address, e-mail address, phone number, website and social media)
  • personal data (title, first and last name, e-mail address) and personal data of accompanying persons (title, first and last name, e-mail address)
  • photos and videos that were taken during an event or were transmitted by you

2.2.2. For what purpose is your data processed?

  • company and personal data:
    • sending of event information in the course of registration (confirmation of registration, follow-up e-mail)
  • photos and videos:
    • press coverage
    • documentation in (social) media or apps
    • publications on our websites
    • reporting to shareholders

2.2.3. Legal basis of processing

By registering for an event or visiting our events, you agree upon the storage of your personal data. We also process your personal information based on our major legitimate interest, which is to document our events and communicate them to a broad audience.

2.2.4. Transfer of your personal data

Your personal data will be sent by e-mail to a processor (such as a newsletter mailing system) for the purpose of sending invitations.
Your personal information will be provided to different processors (such as website hosts, agencies, IT service providers, app programmers) for the purpose of publishing them on websites, social media or apps.
For the purpose of documentation of visitor and attendance numbers, your personal data may be passed on to our shareholders SFG, WKO and the City of Graz as well as external testing agencies.

2.2.5. Storage time

Your data will be stored by us as long as this is necessary for the processing of your registration for an event, there are statutory storage requirements or we need to save them to fulfill our legal requirements, and beyond, as long as guarantee, warranty or limitation periods have not yet expired. Photos and videos are stored for documentation purposes unlimitedly in public (social) media and on our websites until further notice.

 

2.3. Member (Free, Full, Premium)

Some personal data are processed in connection with the CIS membership.

2.3.1. Which data is processed?

  • company data (company name, address, e-mail address, phone number, website and social media)
  • personal data (title, first and last name, e-mail address) and personal data of contact persons in the company (title, first and last name, e-mail address, telephone number, position in the company)
  • photos and videos that were taken during an event or transmitted by you
  • texts that you provide to us for making member portraits

2.3.2. For what purpose do we process your data?

  • Managing your data in a central database
  • Publishing your data in the member data directory of our website for the purpose of networking and exchange contacts
  • Publishing your data for the purpose of documentation in social media or apps
  • Providing information through newsletters and mail
  • Public Relations
  • Publication of information provided by you (e.g. job postings) on our websites, in the newsletter or in (social) media
  • Linking creative professionals with companies
  • Initiating of a project or business
  • Contract fulfillment
  • Advising, informing and supporting members regarding creative economic matters

We collect this information in the course of your membership or in connection with services provided to one of our members, either by you providing this data yourself (in particular by communicating via e-mail or other means of communication) or by us collecting it, for example in the course of consultation, the handling of events etc.

2.3.3. Legal basis of processing

By registering for membership, you give us your consent to the processing of your personal data. Membership is regulated by our Terms and Conditions.

2.3.4. Transfer of your personal data

Your personal data will be transferred by mail to processors (like printing shops) for the purpose of transmitting information.
Your personal data will be sent by e-mail to a processor (such as a newsletter mailing system) for the purpose of sending invitations.
Your personal information will be provided to different processors (such as website hosts, agencies, IT service providers, app programmers) for the purpose of publication on websites, social media or apps.
As part of the international network of UNESCO Creative Cities, personal data may be transferred as part of a transnational project or contract.

2.4. Newsletter subscribers

In connection with the sending of the newsletter, some personal data will be processed.

2.4.2. For what purpose is your data processed?

  • sending information by e-mail

We collect this data as part of your membership or due to your voluntary subscription to the newsletter via our websites.

2.4.3. Legal basis of processing

By subscribing to the newsletter you agree upon the sending of information by e-mail. You can revoke this consent at any time by clicking on “unsubscribe” in the newsletter.

2.4.4. Transfer of your personal data

Your personal data will be sent by e-mail to a processor (such as a newsletter mailing system) for the purpose of sending invitations.
Your personal data will be transferred in our database for processing and maintenance purposes to several processors such as IT service providers.

2.4.5. Storage time

Your personal data will be stored in our newsletter dispatch system until further notice by unsubscribing to the newsletter.

 

2.5. Companies and Service Providers

As part of our projects and events, we process personal data of companies and service providers.

2.5.1. Which data is processed?

  • company data (company name, address, e-mail address, phone number, website and social media)
  • personal data (title, first and last name, e-mail address) and personal data of contact persons in the company (title, first and last name, e-mail address, telephone number, position in the company)
  • photos and videos that were taken during an event or transmitted by you

2.5.2. For what purpose do we process your data?

  • Managing your data in a central database in oder to get in touch with you in the course of a project or a contract
  • Providing information through newsletters and mail
  • Publication of information provided by you (e.g. job postings) on our websites, in the newsletter or in (social) media
  • Publication of your personal and company data, photos and videos as well as texts on our websites for documentation and contacting
  • Linking creative professionals with your company
  • Initiating of a project or business
  • Contract fulfillment
  • Advising, informing and supporting companies regarding creative economic matters

We collect this information in the course of your membership or in connection with services provided to one of our members, either by you providing this data yourself (in particular by communicating via e-mail or other means of communication) or by us collecting it, for example in the course of consultation, the handling and documentation of events and the execution of projects.

2.5.3. Legal basis of processing

You give CIS your approval for linking and networking by contacting us in the form of a consultation or information, by handing over your business card and hence explicitly requesting the service, and through a contractually recorded project cooperation.

2.5.4. Transfer of your personal data

Your personal data will be transferred by mail to processors (like printing shops) for the purpose of transmitting information.

3. Your rights in terms of personal data

Under applicable law, you are, among other things, entitled (subject to applicable law) to verify if and what personal data we have stored about you and to receive copies of that data. You may request the rectification, amendment, or deletion of personal information that is incorrect or has not been processed in conformity with the law. You can require us to restrict the processing of your personal data, to oppose the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances, or to revoke any previously given consent for processing, whereas such revocation does not affect the lawfulness of the processing until the revocation. Further, you are entitled to require data portability, to know the identity of third parties to whom your personal data are transmitted and to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority.
