Architecture with an unmistakable identity
'Boothaus B', Mondsee in collaboration with Luger&Maul Architekten © Lukas Maul

In their projects, maul-architekten architectural practice focuses on preserving existing buildings while also incorporating new architectural and spatial aspects in order to create a novel unmistakable identity.

Based in Vienna with an additional office on Lake Attersee in Upper Austria since January 2020, maul-architekten recently received the first prize in a EU-wide open competition for the restoration of the town hall, music centre, regional museum and the secondary school in Zwentendorf, as well as for the overall refurbishment and extension of the higher schools of tourism in Retz, Lower Austria.

Other exciting projects include the restoration of boathouse B at Lake Mondsee and the residential building project Oberbach near Lake Attersee. Although the team focuses on restoration projects, paying careful attention to the surrounding environment and existing structures, it is one of their key interests to supplement the project with state-of-the-art spatial concepts, thus optimising architecture for users and respecting the buildings’ specific periods of origin and appearances.
