How diverse are the application areas of wood? What possibilities does production with a modern milling robot offer? How can they be used to create innovative products? Students of the Industrial Design course at the FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences Graz tackled these questions this in their 3rd semester. Their considerations on this subject matter resulted in many exciting projects. They will be presented during the Design Month Graz from 8 May to 7 June, 2020 in the Joanneumsviertel under the exhibition title CNCentury. In addition to the renewable raw material wood from the European beech, this exhibition will also focus on local production and the modernization of the carpentry trade based on programmable milling robots. The semester project was developed in collaboration with Creative Industries Styria, the Hechenblaickner wood trading company, the Holzcluster Steiermark, the wood innovation center in Zeltweg and the design platform Mutamo.
