Fluid Forms

FLUID FORMS was founded in 2005 by the designers, Hannes Walter and Stephen Williams, as an innovative label which combines the advantages of traditional craftsmanship with modern, computer-based product design. Just as in former times craftsmen customized every work piece to individual requests, the costumer of today can design his/her own product, thanks to FLUID FORMS.

CASSIUS, for example, is a boxing sack peppered with sensors which allows for the creation of virtual sculptures. Special electronic devices transmit the strength and position of every stroke directly to a computer. In this manner, the effect of every stroke on the sack becomes visualized and produces a virtual draft for a real, haptic object. A 3D-printer animates the completely individually designed object. Polyamide powder is applied in layers and solidified by means of a laser. The model grows, layer for layer, and can finally be used as a lamp shade, for example.

Natürlich kann der gewählte Ausschnitt dann noch vergrößert, verkleinert oder verschoben werden. Zur Veranschaulichung wird gleichzeitig das fertige Produkt als 3D-Modell angezeigt. Dieses Unikat kann bequem im Webshop bestellt werden und verschönert schon zwei Wochen später Ihr Zuhause.

FLUID EARTH, on the other hand, is an innovative, easy to handle online design-tool, which allows for the creation of unique living room objects from home. Just enter the desired place and it will be illustrated in the form of a bowl. The selected detail can of course be enlarged, minimized or scrolled. Contemporarily, the completed product is visualized as a 3D-model. This unique piece can be comfortably ordered in a web shop and may decorate your home already two weeks later.
