22nd Biennial of Industrial Design
At the opening of the BIAO 22 on Thursday, 7 October, the winners of this years' BIO Desing Awards were presented. An international Jury of esteemed design professionals had reviewed 132 exhibits from 24 countries and selected three BIO-Awards in Gold, ten BIO Honorable Mentions and 7 BIO Quality Concept Awards. Among them two Austrian works were awarded: the BIO Honourable Mention went to Design GP Desingpartners GMbH for "Twinline 2 bathtub and shower stall" while the Bio Yuality Concept Award went to DEsigner Ervin K. Bauer, Bauer-Konzept & Gestaltung and dieter Mayer, Struktiv for their concept "Orientation & Identity - monograph".
The exhibition, that will be open to public till November 7, was officially opened by special guest Philippe Starck.
The Biennial of Industrial Design (known by its Slovene acronym BIO) is a comparative international design exhibition with a tradition of more than forty years; here designers, commissioners, manufacturers, and students from all over the world present their latest achievements. For BIO 22, an international selection committee have chosen products, concepts, and works in product graphics and information design that propose creative and innovative solutions for problems we face in our lives today, solutions that focus on sustainable development and social responsibility and that address the unique needs of different groups of users.
