Lectures | Design Month
design@FH JOANNEUM Lecture Days
“Design and happiness” – with this motto the globally successful Austrian graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister will give a speech on the occasion of the “Design Month” festival. Sagmeister, who founded Sagmeister Inc. in New York in 1993, has worked for such prestigious clients as The Rolling Stones, the Guggenheim Museum and HBO. He has also been awarded two Grammies, and has probably won every possible design award which exists today. Sagmeister’s works have been exhibited in Zurich, Vienna, New York, Berlin, Tokyo, Osaka and Prague, as well as other cities. He currently teaches at the School of Visual Art in New York, and gives speeches on all continents.
The FH Joanneum Lecture Days will also bring other big names from the international design scene to Graz, and offer with their speeches an exciting cross-section of contemporary design approaches. On the program is Bart Tunnissen from the waag society of Amsterdam, as well as the artist, curator and pedagogue Mark Allen, who will bring his “Machine Project” with him from Los Angeles. Under his direction the “Machine Project” produced exhibits for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum for Contemporary Art in Denver, and the Walker Museum in Minneapolis. He has taught at the California Institute of the Arts, and is currently Professor of Art at the Pomona College.
