Pilotprojekt Jakomini-Viertel E
Design in public space | pilot project „Jakomini-Viertel“
Creative Industries Styria in cooperation with the Department of Economic and Tourism development and the City Management of Graz have initiated the urban development program “Jakomini-Viertel” in the Jakomini district.
This program encourages the creative branch to settle in the district and promotes activities to increase the attractivity of the streets. The intention of this program is to lure creative businesses to settle into the district and promote activities in order to enhance the attractivity of the streets.
Intervention in public space:
The intention is to define the streets ((Jakoministraße and Klosterwiesgasse) with a visual frame in order to differentiate it as a significant design area in the Jakomini Quarter. The entrance to the quarter will be clearly recognized by the north and south street endings. The streets itself will be revamped leaving it with a fresh inviting look for visitors to explore them. The design of the public space will be changed in an interval of two years in order to symbolize the progress in development.
