Swiss Design Award

What design is currently achieving in our Western neighboring country will be shown at an exhibition from May 10th till June 17th at designforum Steiermark in Graz Kunsthaus. Here six winning projects of the Swiss Design Award are displayed over a large area. This Award distinguishes bold and uncompromising ideas which pave the way for the future of design.

Displayed projects:

1 –Schauspielhaus Zürich (Zurich Playhouse) 2009/10
The new visual styling of the Schauspielhaus Zürich was developed for the 2009/10 season. The key graphic element is a simple black disk which extends over all aspects of communication.

2 – Senior Design Factory                                    
The Senior Design Factory consists of an atelier in which young designers cooperate with technically talented seniors. Handcrafted products are sold in the shop.

3 – Colour and Light
Although colours can only be perceived in connection with light, a combined colour and light theory has so far been lacking in the creative praxis. The project “Colour and Light – Materials for the Theory of Colour and Light” is about the praxis-relevant teaching of the experimental results in connection with the topic light and colour.

The acoustic curtain collection “Silent Space” from Annette Douglas Textiles ACOUSTICS® is a light, transparent and flame-retardant acoustic fabric with excellent sound-absorption properties.

6 – Dukta – flexible wood, a material innovation
The wooden furniture developed under the banner of “con.temporary furniture” has been based on a logically thought out push-fit system. Made of plywood boards, the individual components are easy to transport and can be assembled with little trouble.
