The designforum Steiermark at the Kunsthaus Graz offers designers and design-relevant projects an up-to-date presentation and exhibition space right in the city centre. What is thus created is an urban dialogue, excellence and mediation centre which conveys the subject of design in all its multi-facetedness. One of the central tasks herein is raising public awareness about design’s quality and value. The aesthetic aspect alone does not play the crucial role; it is rather the social and economic relevance of design too.

This comprehensive dimension of design is dealt with and presented in a simple and easily accessible manner, thus inviting us to think about the subject of design. Beside the exhibitions panels, symposiums and talks, events and publications are on the programme. The designforum Steiermark is an independent institution, yet it closely collaborates with the designforumMQ Wien and the designforum Vorarlberg. Moreover, the synergy poential created by the designforum’s integration into the Kunsthaus Graz is to be actively made use of in the process. Beside an informal coordination of content with the Kunsthaus directorship we are also aiming at a project-based cooperation with the Kunsthaus Graz / Universalmuseum Joanneum. Creative Industries Styria is in charge of the programme of designforum Steiermark.

Design shop
The designforum Steiermark cooperates with the Kunsthaus Graz museum shop, which sells products provided by designforum Steiermark and Creative Industries Styria on commission. Thus an interesting distribution channel for design-relevant products and Creative Industries Styria’s own publications is created.
